What is the plague?


● The plague is an infectious disease caused by a bacterium called Yersinia pestis that can affect both animals and humans.

Symptoms


● Fever , mustle pain , arthralgia , headache , diarrhea.

Treatment

● People with the plague need immediate treatment. If treatment is not received within 24 hours of when the first symptoms
occur, death may be unavoidable.
● Antibiotics such as streptomycin, gentamicin, doxycycline are used to treat plague.

How do people get plague?
  • By the bites of infected fleas
  • By direct contact with the tissues or body fluids of a plague-infected animal
  • By laboratory exposure to plague bacteria
